GENERAL DESCRIPTION
STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ is a premium grade asphalt pavement sealer for those discriminating jobs that demand outstanding performance and appearance year after year.
STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ has an extraordinary degree of toughness and water repellency not accomplished thus far by any competitive sealer in the industry. The hot blending of catalyzed rubber and select polymers with the refined coal tar in STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ greatly enhances its toughness, flexibility at all temperatures and resistance to gasoline, oil, chemicals, and deicing salts. The water repellency of the cured STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ coating systems is the result of a very special blend of surface active agents which change the surface physical chemistry of the clays and make them hydrophobic. The combination of the state-of-the-art technology in manufacturing and raw material selection translates into the following;

STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS
STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ exceeds the requirements of, FEDERAL SPECIFICATION RP-355e, when tested in accordance with the following: ASTM STANDARDS.
D 2939 - Bituminous Base Emulsions for use as Protective Coatings.
D 490-77 - Standard Specification for Road Tar.
D 3320-79- Standard Specification for Emulsified Coal-Tar Pitch (Mineral Colloid Type).
D140 - Sampling of Bituminous Materials.
D 529 - Recommended Practice for Accelerated Weathering Test of Bituminous Materials.
D 466 - Methods of Testing Films deposited from Bituminous Emulsions.
D 1655 - Aviation Turbine Fuels.
Bl17 - Salt Spray (fog) Testing.
APPLICATION
STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ must be applied on structurally sound pavement by professional applicators.
Coverage rates- 0. 18 to 0.20 gal/sq. yard of the concentrated STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ, in two coat application. Coverage rates may vary depending upon the porosity and texture of the pavement surface.
Dilution - Maximum 20% by volume on the volume of the concentrated STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ, with clean potable water.
Aggregates Addition - Clean silica sand or synthetic aggregates with an average grain fineness between 50 - 70 shall be added for increased traction and textured appearance. Not recommended for steeply inclined surfaces.
Method - Mechanical or spray applicators, brush or squeegee
RECOMMENDED SYSTEMS
Heavy Traffic Areas - Industrial and commercial parking lots and driveways, airport taxiways, service stations, fast food restaurants, etc.
1st coat: STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ with 4-5 Ibs. of aggregate per gallon of concentrated (undiluted) sealer. Coverage rate - 0. 10 - 0. 12 gall*/square yard.
2nd coat: Composition same as for 1st coat. Coverage rate -0.09 - 0.11 gall/square yard.
3 rd coat: STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ - No aggregate added. Coverage rate - 0.08 - 0.10 gall/square yard.
Medium to light traffic areas - Home driveways, play areas, gas stations aprons, airfield and highway shoulders.
1st coat: STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ with 4-5 Ibs. of aggregate per gallon of concentrated (undiluted) sealer. Coverage rate - 0. 10 - 0. 12 gall/sq. yard.
2nd coat: STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ - No aggregate added. Coverage rate- 0.08- 0.10 gall/sq. yard.
* All the Coverage Rates are expressed as gallons of concentrated sealer (undiluted) STAR-SEAL SUPREMEŽ.
CURING TIME
Will vary according to temperature and relative humidity at the time of application. Under ideal drying conditions (80 deg. F and 50% relative humidity allow at least;
- 4 hours between successive coats.
- 20 - 24 hours after the application of the last coat prior to opening to traffic.
WEATHER LIMITATIONS
Surface and air temperature should be a min. 50 degrees F. and rising.
Do not apply on rainy, foggy, and extremely humid days, or when rain is in the forecast within 24 hours.
Dampen the pavement with a fine mist of water if the pavement temperature is over 100 degrees F., to facilitate even spreading. Do not allow the water to puddle on the surface.
CAUTIONS
Apply only on unsealed asphalt or surfaces previously sealed with coal tar emulsion-based sealers.
New asphalt pavements must be allowed to cure for at least 30 days in hot weather. Perform "water-break test" (meaning water shall spread evenly on the surface) before seal coating.
Not recommended for steeply inclined surfaces as they may become slippery when wet by rain or snow.
Contains Refined Coal Tar. May cause skin irritation. Wear gloves and protective clothing. In case of contact, flush skin or eyes immediately with fresh water. If the product gets in the mouth or eyes, see a physician immediately. Consult material safety data sheet for details.
Store in airtight containers above freezing.
